Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine)
Melbourne airport is 23 kilometers from Melbourne City center, and is the sole international airport of the 4 Airports serving Melbourne. Originally called Tullamarine Airport, as a result of the suburb it was built in, It was changed to Melbourne Airport on privatization in 1997. It is still occasionally referred to as Tullamarine, particularly when needing to distinguish it from Avalon, that is also used by some domestic airlines.
Melbourne Airport operates Terminal 2 (T2 - international) Terminal 2 handles all international flights out of Melbourne Airport Terminal 3 (T3 - domestic - used by airlines including Virgin Blue and Regional Express) and Terminal 4 (T4 - Tiger Airways).
